George W. Bush, the Poorly Spoken Buffoon

Is it only me, or do people opposed to Bush seem so full of anger and lacking all real substance about which to complain about the president with that they are not worth listening to? I see and hear so many people complain about how he is a bad president for reasons as stupid and childish as that he makes stupid looking faces (like an ape) or that he speaks poorly. Their reasoning behind the latter complaint is that why would we want an ineloquent speaker for a leader? Well history tells me that this is a very shallow and ridiculous reason to be picky about who our leaders are. Julius Caesar was said to speak only common Latin, and therefore 'bad' Latin. That is total rubbish, who cares how good or bad their speech is so long as they are effective leaders and make good decisions. Also, Adolph Hitler was a superb German speaker, it is what brought him to power over all the other factions. Now however, he is seen as a terrible person (albeit a good leader). What I am in essence getting at is I do not understand how people on the left can say that they do not want a president who does not speak the queen's english, and yet support things like ebonics getting recognition as a language.

I am not saying that they do not have real substance at all to complain about the president with, or that they can not pull out real grounds, but I think it is simply childish to complain in that way. Also, I hate and I must say I absolutely hate the notion that Bush did not win the election of 2000. We have an electoral college for a reason, and never has its necessity been clearer to me than that election. Bush won Florida even allowing for the infamous dimpled chads. Winning Florida he clearly won the election, and every time I see something stupid like "re-defeat Bush in '04" I want to tell that person about Thomas Jefferson and read them his paper on avoiding faction and the need for the republic over a democracy. Whether we like it or not, he is our president and we need to live with that... and just because I thought Clinton was a bad president I did not run away screaming (except about his deep licentiousness). Sometimes I hope Bush is not elected just so liberals will stop whining until the next republican is elected.

Please do not get me wrong, I do not think he is all that good of a president, and believe me, I would have voted for the democratic nomination had it been nearly anyone but Kerry or Dean. As of now, I think Bush is the better of the two, and that is completely sad, as it was also sad that the nominations in 2000 were Bush and Gore, when will we have a good president again?! I will probably end up voting for Nader I am sure.
