The Interim Journal

23 June 2006

Old habits die hard but sometimes are even harder to revive. Such is the case with keeping a daily journal for me again, but I figure if I just push myself enough it will become habit and I won’t feel right going to sleep at night without chronicling the events that make up my day to day life. Though it is worth mentioning that the main reason I write such things is to help sharpen my short-term memory, plus to keep a record of my doings to have a better reference and grasp in future, should I need it. Well, here goes another shot for Picks Exploits.

Today was an extremely productive one, one I am almost proud of though all of my productivity was mainly devoted to mundane things, and most likely not worth really writing about. To start I woke about when I wanted to, but only about four hours or so after I had gone to sleep the night before (curse video games and their hypnotic effects, such as time-drainage). At any rate I awoke first to my alarm, which I had duly set to 10:00, then to the telephone, which rarely fails to rouse me beyond further unconsciousness. Although I did not answer the phone call, I did lie in bed thinking, as I tend to do in mornings and finally concluded that a shower might be in order. Following this, I went downstairs made some toast and an orange for breakfast, with water of course. Whilst eating, I concluded my “Rome” game, which took me only about an hour and a half or less to do. When it did finally end, I erased it, which always is probably a course for the best. After this, I called the CELTA program and failing to get anyone on the other line, I made some inquiries to the voice-mail, with a request to call me back (which has not yet occurred).

A little later, Kevin called me, and asked if he could borrow my cd-rom, to which I agreed, mentioning he would need to pick it up though. After a little bit of though I went out and smoked my pipe, then returned to the house. A little later he called and asked if I wanted Good Times, and I said sure. I figured I had a lot of time, so I started mowing the lawn, and very nearly completed all of it, when Kevin and Kristy showed up. I waved them to go on inside and finished the segment I was on. When I did finish I joined them for lunch and talked, partly about giving up my worldly possessions, and also about financial things (particularly my credit card bill, I had gotten today). Kevin talked about his job and such like that, which is usually always fascinating to me. Then we went on a walk on our normal path. Apparently Kristy would like to have a barbeque and play volleyball on 4 July. When we returned they left and I finished mowing the lawn and then weed-ate and broomed all the clippings from the sidewalk onto the grass. Then I went in and vacuumed, which proved more tedious than ever I remembered it, then dusted.

Finding myself with some free time, I went to Office Max and bought 14 binders, for a vast organization scheme I had in mind at home. After stopping at King Soopers to get some food, I got to work immediately organizing my new folders to some fairly nice display. Getting the rest of my room organized, I went and ate supper, and after that treated myself to another walk, this time to the mystical side of York, which did prove a rather splendid and uplifting ordeal. Along the walk I talked to Alyssa on the phone, and on the way back I stopped by my Alma Mater, Tarver, and swung. I came to the conclusion, based on the Rammstein song, that in my life Stephanie is definitely Rosenrot, though I had always felt so, but actually listening deeply to the words truly confirmed this to me, so from now on, I’ll refer to her as such... due to other reasons I shall not get into here, she does warrant a nickname like that. I suppose, that about concludes my day.
