I finally got out a lot on this day, and it was good to do so, although I got lost, or at least misdirected twice, so it was kind of hard in that way. To start the day, I woke up far later than I would have wanted to do, but that is how it goes sometimes. The problem with that is that I had to get my passport to the Tanzanian embassy early, or there would be a great line for me to get in. I got there, and this happened to be the case. I got there with about an hour until their unusually short hours closed to submit my visa application, and the queue to get that done was ridiculously long. Of course I waited though, figuring it was better to wait and be turned out that morning rather than have to come back, again! As it happened the queue eventually started moving more quickly, so a turtle compared to a snail, all the same I waited and got my passport in, along with a fee of £38.00. I was happy to be done with this, and so as I walked out of the embassy, I decided to walk home, instead of riding the Tube or bus. I did this, and walked by Oxford Street and eventually into the blessed grace that is Hyde Park. I took many pictures along the way there, and found myself with sore feet after a while. So, I decided to head up and instead of carrying on past Notting Hill Gate home, I thought I’d just catch a bus for the rest of the way but when I did catch a bus it took me into South Kensington instead, much to my surprise.
So I went out and tried to catch a Circle Line train back to Notting Hill Gate, but as it was taking forever, I went instead on the Piccadilly line up to Baker Street and then down to Ladbroke Grove that way. When I returned, at last, I basically sat around and just did a bit more work, and then I found that I was quite lonely, much more than I had been in a long time. So to make myself feel better, stupidly, I thought I would go out and buy a CD to replace the empty feeling I had. Now London is simply not a good place to buy CDs at least not from retailers. Anyway, I went out to Oxford Circus, with the intention of actually going to Piccadilly Circus, but thought I’d walk there. As it was I got mixed up and walked along Oxford Street, by Tottenham Court Road, along the way, I found an HMV a Borders and a Virgin Mega Store, I eventually took the Tube down from Oxford Circus to the Virgin store there. The band I was searching for, VNV Nation was only at HMV, where they had two of their albums. I eventually bought one of the albums called Future Perfect, hoping it would be the next VAST, Rammstein or Verve album of mine, one that I would treasure for every note played on it. Anyway, I took the Central line back home, and when I got in, I listened to this new album, honestly fairly disappointed in it, it simply sounded like techno dance music. It wasn’t terrible, just not the profoundly moving music I had expected. I realised too that it was not worth spending as much as I did on it, and furthermore, it wasn’t worth the time and effort to try and replace the bad feelings in my heart in this way.
After I got back I basically worked on and finished my astronomy paper and eventually, albeit extremely late, went to bed, to wake up the next day very early for my final examination in my architecture course, but that is a tale for later.
