Today, was nothing too unusual, but pretty fun all the same. Basically I went to class, and found it to be interesting as usual. After that, I took off to meet my class at Piccadilly circus, and there we went around what was basically the most affluent part of London, saving maybe Knightsbridge. This was the area of St. James, right by the palace of St. James, where the monarchy lived mostly in London before Buckingham Palace. There we went by the royal grocers Fortnum and Mason’s, as well as the custom haberdashery and cobbler. We also went by Christie’s auction house, where they were selling the medal that Captain Hardy (or was it admiral, I forget) got for his valour at the battle of Trafalgar (he is the guy that Admiral Nelson was talking to when he said his supposed famous last words “kiss me Hardy”, which are supposed to be the most famous last words in the English language). We also went to the London Academy of Art, where they have the only piece sculpted by Michelangelo in the UK. Also there I believe was the Scream by Edvard Munch. After this little delightful trip, I went to my other class, and learned a lot about Bartok, who I felt was a bit boring as a composer. At the end of the class, however, the professor offered an extra ticket to anyone who wanted it for that night’s concert. I requested it, in hopes of bringing one of my roommates with me to the concert.
I returned home, and had about an hour left before the concert, so I offered the ticket to Seamus, as he was the only one home, and he glad accepted it. I was quite content with this, but then Erika got home and said how bad of a day she had had, and I then asked Seamus if he would not mind giving back his ticket to give to her, to which he did not object. I offered her the ticket and after many minutes of consideration she declined, so I it was then Seamus and I again, this time going to Cadogen Hall. We went there, getting there about ten minutes before the concert. It was well performed, and after having left there, we went back and I tried to pack for my big trip, succeeding partly, but not enough to be sure. Anyway, I eventually got most everything packed, and resolved to leave the rest of the details until the next day.
