Today was okay, I woke up at the incessant honking of a ship floating by outside my hostel. After everyone else was rushing about, I finally joined them and got my stuff packed again. Resolving to leave the hostel, and I got my passport back from the front desk (they keep it until you leave). After wearing my heavy backpack around I walked about Giudecca and decided to board the next bus to go the next island over, a small but charming island called San Giorgio. I walked around there hoping to go the large park that was supposed to be there, but it was shut down to visitors, so instead I took some pictures of the little lighthouse looking things near the docks of the island. I then went to the main island again, and wandered about, resting in a park, and looked for a place to eat, but found nothing I thought to be cheap enough. I eventually wandered up the Bridge at Rialto, and turned back, and then wandered more aimlessly around the city, and finally decided to board a boat back to the main bus terminal to say my final farewells to the city. I did not wait too long, but had bought some potato chips and an extremely expensive coke (€2.40 for a 500ml bottle!) I finally boarded the train, and we were soon on our way. It was great I had the whole compartment to myself, and it had plugins, but at first they did not work, nor anything else really.
The trip was gorgeous, we first rolled by all the beautiful vineyards one would expect to find in northern Italy, and it was just incredible. Then after that we went in and beneath the Alps, which made me sorely homesick for the Rocky Mountains, but they were beautiful, and we would go beneath these large tunnels for well over 20 minutes at a time (I’m guessing). We also rolled by the lovely Austrian countryside, but by that time, it was rather dark. When I did finally arrive in Vienna, it was not too late, but it did seem a lot darker than I thought it would be for some reason. There were many people out, and I caught a tram that went straight to the nearest stop to my hostel, the Westbahnhof. When I did arrive to the Westbahnhof, I was happy and figured it would be a great night, because the way things were looking on the sheet for the hostel, it was supposed to be rather nice, especially compared to the one I had in Venice. The only problem with it that I could see so far, was that the street it was on did not exist on my map. So, after walking to two streets I thought might have been the ones it was supposed to be on, I got very frustrated to find that it was on neither, eventually, I went to a kiosk that had the internet on it and looked up the hostel on it, luckily it had a webpage that told me how to get there, so I was very happy to find that. I did finally make it to the hostel, and found the nicest possible hostel room, and it had wooden bunk beds a table, and a pleasant bathroom attached. At the hostel room, I met two nice guys named Bo (or Beau) and Mark. They were from Texas and travelling around. Anyway, shortly after getting there I went to bed.
