Overview of When and Where I Was

In December of 2005, I undertook a trip from London (my residence at the time) to Johannesburg, South Africa. From there, I went through five additional countries: Botswana, Zambia, Malawi, Tanzania and Kenya. This trip lasted exactly a month: 26 December 2005 to 26 January 2006. It was full of excitement and gave me a better understanding of things about Africa and to some extent life in general. I came to many conclusions and learned a great deal about people and nature. While there, I tried to keep a journal daily, which can be read here (though I fear I did not do it as often as I should have liked). Additionally, I took several pictures which can be seen here. Some of the highlights I saw on this trip were: Johanesburg, the Apartheid Museum, Kruger National Park, the Chobe river, Victoria Falls (and Zambezi river), Livingstone, Lake Malawi, Dar Es Salaam, Zanzibar, Mt. Kilimanjaro, Arusha, the Ngorongoro crater, the Serengeti, the Olduvai Gorge and Nairobe. All of these things I shall go into greater detail about later. I wrote a few things of note while there which can be found here.

Impressions and Thoughts

Africa is a very unique place in the world, I feel with thousands of species and cultures scattered throughout the land. During my time there, I learned and considered a great deal which I hadn't in the past. I learned a lot about myself and about people in general. I certainly learned a lot about the areas I was in, which I didn't know before. I learned that Africa is one of the most diverse places I could think of certainly, with the many different kinds of people and animals and so on. My time there was fairly relaxing and there little to no worries about much, but I am sure that is because of the conditions I was there under.
